The Krasnogorsk-3 is a spring-wound 16mm mirror-reflex movie camera designed and manufactured in the USSR by KMZ (Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant).

It was one of the most popular 16mm movie cameras in Eastern Europe, where it made a prominent appearance in Krzysztof Kieślowski's 1979 film Camera Buff, and continues to enjoy considerable popularity in the West. Director Spike Lee shot parts of his film Get on the Bus with a Krasnogorsk-3.

The Krasnogorsk-3 uses standard 100-foot (30 m) load of 16mm film (single or double-perforation). There is no provision for an external magazine. The stock lens is the f/1.9 17–69 mm zoom lens Meteor-5-1, considered by many to be a quality optic. The M42 screw-mount allows for the use of widely available lenses from 35 mm still cameras such as Asahi Pentax Takumar lenses.

The camera has a single pulldown claw and no registration pin. Film speed is adjustable from 8 frame/s to 48 frame/s; however, many cameras are capable of functioning at higher frame rates (upwards of 60 fps) if the adjusting dial is turned beyond the 48 fps indicating mark. A single-frame release at the back of the Krasnogorsk-3 allows for animation and other single-frame applications.

Kranosgorsk works in all conditions, in cold, heat, rain and dust. This good camera for travel, expeditions, and in a war zone.
The supplied zoom lens is of extremely high quality and is sufficient for almost any recording situation. Any Pentax screw mount lens will work on the K-3, so you can use any 35mm SLR lens on your K-3.

The K-3 has been adopted by many film schools, including the University of Southern California's School of Cinema and Television. It has a semi-automatic diaphragm setting.

Its low price, rugged construction and sophisticated optics have made it very popular with both beginning filmmakers and professionals. Among the K-3's credits are music videos for the Spin Doctors and Suicidal Tendencies.

The Krasnogorsk-3 features:

17-69mm f1.9 zoom precision Zenit Lens
Electronic exposure meter
Continuously variable speed from 8-48 fps
Single-frame animation
Rotating mirror beam-splitter
Film counter

Early HELIOS-44 f2/58mm silver KMZ 13 blades  00xxxxx serial number The lens has been serviced: cleaned, lubricated, adjusted (CLA). The legendary Helios-44 lens (13 blades) inspired by the German Carl Zeiss «Biotar 2/58». The optical design was taken from Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 2/58. Zeiss lenses are still famous for their excellent quality and imaging. The version of the Helios-44 lens with a 13-blade aperture makes the most artistic picture. Lenses were also produced with serial numbers starting with one, two or three zeros. It has been suggested on the forums that they were intended for executives of various ranks. The lens is quite sharp already at full aperture. At F / 2.0, good sharpness is obtained, which allows you to use it in poor lighting, and at 2.0 you can get good portraits. Helios-44 is excellent for photographing portraits - and therefore it is still very much loved by modern photographers. The optical element (glass) of this lens allows you to obtain images with better focus and contrast. The first(silver) versions of Helios-44 KMZ (Krasnogorsk Mechanical Zavod) lenses are considered the best in their category. Helios-44 is an interesting lens with an amazing image and a fixed focal length of 58mm. The aperture has 13 blades. Stop at fixed values. When the aperture is closed, the lens produces almost uniform circles in the out-of-focus area. Focusing range from 0.5 meter to infinity. The aperture has fixed values from 2.0 to 16.0. The lens is quite sharp at f/2.0 aperture, allowing for great portraits with fantastic swirling bokeh. The lens has a very specific bokeh. Many photographers are of the opinion that Helios44 is better by features in the first edition, under M-39. This is because quality control was better in the 50's and early 60's. _____________________________________ See my other items to save shipping costs.  Usual shipping time (with tracking) to EU 7-21 days, USA and Canada 10-35 days, other world 15-45 days.  This is a used item and may have traces of usage.  Purchasing old/vintage/used equipment please make sure it is compatible with your new cameras, lenses etc. you are going to use it with.  Please note that the delivery takes place from aboard, therefore customs fees are possible. Perfect portrait lens  Helios 40-2 85mm ƒ/1,5  "Bokeh Miracle" USSR. Copy from Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar. King of swirly bokeh! The lens is fully functional and in very good condition.  It can be used with an adapter on modern SRL DSRL and mirrorless cameras.   The legendary Russian Helios-40 'Bokeh Miracle'. If there is a lens that can be called the ultimate Soviet legend, it would be the HELIOS-40 1.5/85. It's a blurry bokeh that has inspired many to try the vintage glass, and really, what this lens can do in the right conditions,  Everything else blows out of the water - vintage or modern. Produces a beautiful biotar-style bokeh - highlighting highlights in the focus as beautiful discs (under the right conditions) so the background swirls slightly. Russian (USSR) Helios-40 lenses are considered one of the best portrait lenses. Sometimes the combination of old and new can lead to startling results. There are a few fantastic analogue lenses, with adapters that blend well with modern digital cameras. One of them is the Russian portrait lens Helios 40 85mm f 1,5 . There is a lot of technical information about this lens on the internet, You can easily find it. The best thing about this lens is the excellent oil-painted bokeh at Aperture's F 1.5 -2. The background blurring has a noticeable "swirly bokeh" effect, especially with F 1.5 .
