Uzbek national costume is quite varied. In Soviet times, it was almost forgotten. When I opened a clothing boutique my goal was to attract the attention of men and women to the traditional Uzbek costume. It is not only beautiful, but also functional, comfortable, composed of natural materials. For example, women's tunics highlight the most beautiful in the figure and hide flaws. Men's outerwear, as well as women, loose-fitting, does not hinder movement. A variety of styles stimulate my imagination and inspire the members of my team. This stylish top is made of natural cotton knitwear and natural silk ikat. Dyed naturally. Will fit for S, M and even L sizes. Excellent condition. Never used. Size: length-24 in, chest-37 in, or in CM length-61 cm, chest-94 cm. Feel free to contact me. I can send any size you need. Just let me know. Thank you for your time and interest.

TUNIC DRESS "KUYLAK" ORIGIN Uzbekistan CIRCA 1960's MATERIALS real natural silk IKAT atlas of the high quality (not printed silk or rayon) CONDITION very good SIZE length-43 in, chest-52 in, from one sleeve to another-57 in. Ikat is one of the most interesting part of Central Asian Applied Arts and the most prestigious and beautiful fabric. It is also known in Persian as 'abr' for 'cloud', in Turkic as 'ipekshahi', in Arabic as 'asab', in Hindi as 'patola'. Like a cloud Uzbek Ikats display a great variety of patterns, may be composed of several combinations of materials and may be woven in both simple and complex structures. The single features shared by all of these extraordinary textiles is the complex dyeing process which is undertaken before the individual elements are arranged upon the loom. All ikat cloths have either their warps, their wefts, or, in rare cases, both warps and wefts dyed only in selective areas and only before those threads have been placed before the loom. The process of preventing the dyes from penetrating the entire warp or weft is known as 'reserving' or 'resist dye' and this produces the essential characteristics of ikat cloth. At the points where the reserved undyed areas meet the dyed sections, carefully controlled amounts of color merge with one another, randomly creating subtle, slightly blurred patterns. This dyeing technique ensures that each abr (cloud) is unique, and it is this aesthetic quality which suggests an analogy with clouds.

The item impress by its wonderful bright colors, large size and perfect handwork. The background of the embroidery is natural silk fabric, the embroidery is made of pure organic silk threads. All dyes are natural. This Suzani makes delightful wall hanging, bedspread, furniture throw, or even tablecloth! This fabulous Uzbek – Ottoman Suzani can wonderfully complement your decor! Size: 110-62 inches (280 - 160 cm) Condition: excellent. I would like to present you the most impressing part of Uzbek handmade embroideries - Suzani. This name of the exquisite silk mural embroideries comes from Persian "sozan" which means "a needle". Uzbek Silk Handmade Suzanis give us an opportunity to have a great insight into the old culture and tradition of this land. Such works of art were prepared and used for ceremonial events like wedding, fittings for horses and horsemen, and the general embellishment of reception areas. Traditionally this embroidery work began at the birth of a daughter and continued, with the help of family and friends, until the bride's dowry was complete. The patterns of Suzanis are an expression of women's mood and fantasies; and not only that...Most of all, Suzanis are the last exponents of an age-old tradition which draw our attention by its mystery and beauty.

In the world there are a lot of ancient regions where there have lived diverse nations and nationalities, fascinating lovers of folklore with their peculiar culture and spirituality. Many customs and rituals, cultural and spiritual values have been forgotten or modified owing to certain historical events, variability of life conditions. One of several reserves of our planet that remained unchanged is the Boysun Mountain site. Two hours driving in a car from the center of Surkhandarya province of Uzbekistan will bring you to absolutely different world, where way of life has remained invariable for many centuries. Boysun is a small island of past life that remains almost untouched by civilization. In spring on the slopes of Boysuntog peasants cultivate their grain fields using old techniques, ploughing their spots of land by harnessed horses. In each yard there is a tandyr, a stove made of clay, in which round flat bread is baked, and flour is milled in the manual or water mills, as their ancestors had done it. Dwellings are decorated with bright embroidery; floors are covered with carpets, which are woven by the skilled women of Boysun. Alongside the walls there are carved chests, which from the old times have been used as wardrobes; on the tables there are painted ceramic dishes made on the potter's wheel. Dress and shoes of women are decorated with embroidered patterns; local Boysun craftsmen make beautiful jewelry. Up to the present time inhabitants of Boysun make use of different tools manufactured by local blacksmiths. Every family carefully keeps and passes over from generation to generation the culture of house-keeping, ancient rituals, traditions and customs filled with the sacred sense and originating from pre-Islamic pagan culture. Ritual songs and dances, the folklore of narrators - akyns, who keep local legends and traditions, live their natural life not meant for the visitants.
