Offered here is Bukhara Suzani, fully silk hand-embroidered with very accurate stitches. This hand-embroidery needs tremendous energy and very long time to make! The embroidery made with the tambour technique - "yurma". It is the most difficult, complex and unique kind of hand-embroidery, needed a tambour-frame and a special device called "bigiz" or "daraush" - a hook. Usually such chain-stitch was used only for making the outlines of patterns, because of needed too much time to make. Such technique could be used by limited amount of embroideresses. All stitches and ornaments look absolutely perfect. The chain-stitch is used to create ornamental designs across the entire surface of the article. The chain-stitch moves in directions that either follow the shapes of the design or divide it into individual sections, varying and diversifying the design with delicate internal ornamentation, imparting a lively interplay or light to the silk, and causing each color to modulate into two or three different yet perfectly harmonious shades. The chain-stitch winds around the outlines of the design, then moves gradually to the inside until the entire design (from outside edge to very middle) is filled with embroidery stitches. The transitions of light in the silk give the embroidery a beautiful texture, which can be comparable with the light shining on the jewels. The luxurious composition consists of the central field and the border. The main motif here is unusual floral net. Ikat is one of the most interesting part of Central Asian Applied Arts and the most prestigious and beautiful fabric. It is also known in Persian as 'abr' for 'cloud', in Turkic as 'ipekshahi', in Arabic as 'asab', in Hindi as 'patola'. Like a cloud Uzbek Ikats display a great variety of patterns, may be composed of several combinations of materials and may be woven in both simple and complex structures. The single features shared by all of these extraordinary textiles is the complex dyeing process which is undertaken before the individual elements are arranged upon the loom. All ikat cloths have either their warps, their wefts, or, in rare cases, both warps and wefts dyed only in selective areas and only before those threads have been placed before the loom. The process of preventing the dyes from penetrating the entire warp or weft is known as 'reserving' or 'resist dye' and this produces the essential characteristics of ikat cloth. At the points where the reserved undyed areas meet the dyed sections, carefully controlled amounts of color merge with one another, randomly creating subtle, slightly blurred patterns.
