It is almost entirely filled with beautiful embroidery. The whole field of the article is filled with colourful blooming bushes where the big various elvish flowers with winding branches complete this beautiful Suzani. The item impress by its wonderful bright colors, perfect handwork. The background of the embroidery is natural silk fabric, the embroidery is made of pure organic silk threads. This Suzani makes delightful wall hanging, bedspread, furniture throw, or even tablecloth! Stitching: chain. Size: 93 x 116 in (236 x 294.6 cm) Age: 1990's. It is also known in Persian as 'abr' for 'cloud', in Turkic as 'ipekshahi', in Arabic as 'asab', in Hindi as 'patola'. Like a cloud Uzbek Ikats display a great variety of patterns, may be composed of several combinations of materials and may be woven in both simple and complex structures. The single features shared by all of these extraordinary textiles is the complex dyeing process which is undertaken before the individual elements are arranged upon the loom. All ikat cloths have either their warps, their wefts, or, in rare cases, both warps and wefts dyed only in selective areas and only before those threads have been placed before the loom. The process of preventing the dyes from penetrating the entire warp or weft is known as 'reserving' or 'resist dye' and this produces the essential characteristics of ikat cloth. At the points where the reserved undyed areas meet the dyed sections, carefully controlled amounts of color merge with one another, randomly creating subtle, slightly blurred patterns. This dyeing technique ensures that each abr (cloud) is unique, and it is this aesthetic quality which suggests an analogy with clouds. Thank you !!!

Offered here is a pair of Uzbek-Lakai pendants for a yurt. The items came from the Southern Uzbekistan. Circa: 1950's. The pattern of the emroidery is composed of the symbolical mysterious Lakai motifs. This piece is decorated with hand-knitted silk fringe and bright twisted tassels. I do not know anyone who can make such tassels now! The pendant with outstanding Lakai design is a wonderful demonstration of superior craftsmanship of Uzbek-Lakai embroideries. There is so much detail in the design that adds to the sophistication of the piece. The colors are very rich and extremely and carefully selected.
