This is a mokume-gane ring, made of sterling silver and traditional japanese alloy Mokume-gane The ring width is 9,5 mm. Ready for shipping. The inside and edges are smoothed and polished for a comfortable wearing surface. The inside is lined with argentium silver that keeps the copper from coming into contact with the skin. The inside of the band has been smoothed for a comfortable fit, and is gently curved for comfortable wear. This ring is wide enough for our personalized ring engraving, available here: Mokume-gane is a Japanese metalworking procedure which produces a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns. Mokume-gane translates closely to "wood grain metal" or "wood eye metal" and describes the way metal takes on the appearance of natural wood grain. Mokume-gane fuses several layers of differently coloured metals together to form a sandwich of alloys called a "billet." The billet is then manipulated in such a way that a pattern resembling wood grain emerges over its surface. Numerous ways of working the mokume metal create diverse pattens.
