Sir Archibald Douglas (The Tyneman- Old Scots "Loser") (before 1298 – 19 July 1333) was a Scottish noble, Guardian of Scotland and military leader during struggle for independence of Scotland. Archibald Douglas was James Duglasa's younger brother, the close friend and the colleague of king Robert Bruce. In 1332, in the conditions of Edward Balliol intrusion, Archibald has been elected by the regent of Scotland at juvenile David II Bruce. Having headed armies of supporters of Bruces, Archibald has broken Edward Balliol army in battle at Annan on December, 17th, 1332 and has superseded Balliol from the country. In 1333 the army of English king Edward III which has besieged Berik has intruded in Scotland. Armies of Archibald Douglas have hastened to the aid of the besieged city, but have been broken in the battle at Halidon-Hille on July, 19th, 1333, and Archibald is killed. Son of Archibald Douglas, William, has received in 1358 from king David II title the earl of Douglas and there was the line founder «Red Duglas», the future earls of Angus and dukes Hamilton. Thomas de Beauchamp, 11th Earl of Warwick (14 February 1313 – November 13,1369) was an English nobleman and military commander during the Hundred Years' War. Warwick was Marshall of England from 1343/4 until 1369, and was one of the commanders at the great English victories at Crecy and Poitiers. Landsknechte Doppelsoldner of the "Black Legion", 1520 Known as the "Black Legion" or "Black Bands", this group of soldiers grew originally from a nucleus of some 800 Landsknecht in French pay who refused to return to Germany in accordance with Maximilian's decree after the Imperial defeat at Ravenna in 1512. Under the command of the Duke of Gueldres, this notorious company was outfitted in black jerkins and hose, and their armour was blackened by fire to avoid rusting.
