The tactical combat purpose of an aircraft is to conduct maneuverable air combat with the aim of destroying or damaging enemy aircraft. The cockpit is single, open, with a small transparent canopy in the front to protect the pilot in flight from the incoming air. On the first serial 75 combat vehicles, Vickers machine guns were installed for synchronous firing forward along the flight path. All other serial fighters had standard armament: two 7.62 mm machine guns. Part of the I-3 aircraft was equipped with bomb racks for two 25-pound bombs. In terms of the general layout, appearance and structural materials, the I-3 fighter largely repeats the production Fokker D.XI aircraft (Soviet designation Fokker FD-11) of the German aircraft designer Reinhold Platz. Produced from July 1942 to 1945. The aircraft was a single-seat monoplane of all-wood construction with retractable landing gear and an enclosed cockpit. A total of 9920 aircraft were produced. The main structural material of the airframe was pine and birch veneer. In the manufacture of the power set of the wing and fuselage, delta wood was also used. All wooden parts of the aircraft were glued together with VIAM-B3 resin glue, without the use of nails and screws.
