Soviet Poster A. Strakhov "1870-1924 V. Ul'ianov (Lenin)" 1976 / Rare Large Poster USSR / Soviet Propoganda / Soviet union Collectible 70s / Soviet Vintage 1976 / Russian Old Poster / Made in USSR ****Free Shipping**** ♦ This is a super-famous original vintage soviet propaganda poster by Adolph Strakhov, "1870-1924 V. Ul'ianov (Lenin). Adolph Strakhov is Ukrainian Soviet graphic and sculptor of Jewish origin. On the background of the darkened ominously in the back of silhouettes of factory chimneys and factory halls in the red car with the machine guns going a little red revolutionary soldiers and sailor, and leader of the world proletariat stands upright in the foreground, like a giant in lilliput country, flush with the factory pipes, so that the car with the soldiers for his ankle. The famous cap and outstretched hand, pointing to the "correct path comrades". Now this poster is perceived, of course, as grotesque, but I think that the Strakhov were in this work sincere. But then why his first step Lenin did with his left foot? (Is it because why Mayakovsky's "Left March" insisted that all the step left?) Why pointing hand - left, although in this pose (check!!!) man it would be natural to pull ahead right-hand? Why this hand is pointing East, not West, where in the first place, in accordance with his own made a plan, soon the anticipated continuation of the world revolution? And finally, why everything that happens in the background we see between his legs?.. Maybe just artistic intuition told to Strahov such a plastic solution, which already at that time gave the figure of the leader is hidden ironic tone? The poster was created by Insurance in 1924 and in the same year at the international exhibition in Paris, was awarded a Large Gold medal and Grand Prix. Now it is stored in the State Tretyakov gallery in Moscow. A great collector's item! Made in USSR , Soviet Union in 1976. Authentic Soviet Book! ♦ 20,86x13,38'' / 53x34 cm Vintage condition. The etching is rendered in his recognizable and peculiar manner and style which are in fact impossible to forge. About artwork: Original limited edition Etching (C3) / aquatint (C5) on paper. Hand-printed (E/A) and signed by the artist. Plate size: 17x11,5 cm. Paper size (app.): 28x21 cmAvvakum Petrov (November 20, 1620 or 1621 - April 14, 1682), born in Grigorovo (in present-day Nizhny Novgorod), was a Russian protopope of Kazan Cathedral on Red Square who led the opposition to Patriarch Nikon's reforms of the Russian Orthodox Church. His autobiography and letters to the tsar, to Boyarynya Morozova and other Old Believers are considered masterpieces of 17th-century Russian literature.Starting in 1652 Nikon, as Patriarch of the Russian Church, initiated a wide range of reforms in Russian liturgy and theology. These reforms were mostly intended to bring the Russian Church into line with the other Orthodox Churches of Eastern Europe and Middle East.Avvakum and others strongly rejected these changes. They saw them as a corruption of the Russian Church, which they considered to be the 'true' Church of God. The other Churches were more closely related to Constantinople in their liturgies and Avvakum argued that Constantinople fell to the Turks because of these heretical beliefs and practices. For his opposition to the reforms, Avvakum was repeatedly imprisoned. For the last fourteen years of his life he was imprisoned in a pit or dugout (a sunken, log-framed hut) at Pustozyorsk above the Arctic Circle before finally being burned at the stake. The spot where he was burned is now marked by an ornate wooden cross.Despite his end, groups rejecting the changes persisted, and they came to be referred to as Old Believers.Avvakum's colourful autobiography memorably recounts hardships of his imprisonment and exile to the Russian Far East, the story of his friendship and rupture with the Tsar Alexis, his practice of exorcising demons and devils, and his boundless admiration for nature and other works of God. Numerous manuscript copies of the text circulated for nearly two centuries before its first printed edition in 1861.
