A large white ship with multiple cranes and a red waterline is moored in a harbor under a clear blue sky. Small boats and a tugboat accompany the vessel, reflecting on the calm water surface.
I am a travel lover and I am interested in the history of the places I visit, because they can become the basis of the plot of my canvases. It happened in Hamburg, where I was captivated by a unique vessel with unsurpassed naval architecture of the early 60s! Remember this time - everything had an aesthetically finished design: buildings, cars, clothes ... Humanity was on the verge of another rise. The plot of my picture is simple - the withdrawal of the "white swan", a ship that has gone down in history, to the raid.
The MS Cap San Diego is a cargo ship on display as a museum ship in Hamburg, Germany. Known for her elegant silhouette, she was the last of a series of six ships known as the white swans of the South Atlantic and marked the pinnacle of German-built general cargo ships before the advent of container ships and the decline of the German heavy shipping industry.
Cap San Diego was built and launched by Deutsche Werft in 1961 for Hamburg Süd as the last of a series of six ships. The 159 m long, 10,000 dwt ship sailed on a regular schedule between Germany and South America, making 120 round trips until 1981. After the ship was sold. The dilapidated ship was scheduled for scrapping. In 1986, when the city of Hamburg bought it, the ship was restored mainly by the labor of enthusiasts and laid-off dockers and is still in working condition. Most of the time, Cap San Diego is moored at the port of Hamburg, where visitors can access almost every part of the ship, from the bridge to the engine. Temporary exhibitions are held in one of the cargo holds. Passenger cabins can be booked for overnight stays. Several times a year, the ship leaves the harbor to sail under its own power, mainly along the Elbe River or Cuxhaven. In 2001, the ship was awarded the "Marine Heritage" award by the World Ship Trust, and in 2003 it was declared a protected cultural heritage site under German law. Sunny impressions of my painting!
The picture is painted in the author's technique with a palette knife in the style of impressionism.
