Description

oil on canvas

25x30 cm

2020

A vibrant composition portrays a jumble of colorful houses with sharp angles and dynamic lines, suggesting a bustling urban landscape. The brushwork is expressive and the colors are boldly applied, creating a sense of movement and energy.

Denia (Spain) in all its infinite attraction. A city of medieval character.
Small and narrow streets are replaced by broad alleys leading to the port, to the sea. Unique relief with the «guarding» city mountain Montgo - natural park. The rays of the sun, like the master of the mint, show the edges of buildings and old cathedrals, and sunlit ships and boats in the harbour blinded their white sides.

oil on canvas 60x90 cm 2023 Vividly colored ships are docked at a bustling port, with their masts and rigging creating intricate patterns against a bright blue sky. The reflections of the vessels dance across the shimmering water, enhancing the dynamic feel. Among the large number of archival photos from different times, I was attracted by one, where a huge ship and a tugboat are so touchingly depicted - a small helper of a large port. Subsequently, I found, by the characteristic outlines of the hull, that the ship is a cargo ship CITY OF SWANSEA - one of five owned by Ellerman Lines and a tugboat - a bright representative of the Liverpool Fighting Cock docks of Liverpool Screw Towing. Unfortunately, the name of the author of the photograph from the D.B. Hillman Collection is not known. Today, rethinking the past, I have breathed new life into a story that was so touchingly recorded and preserved by posterity as the maritime heritage of Great Britain.

oil on canvas 60x90 cm 2020 Light dances across the surface of the water where boats are tethered to a dock. The color palette is vibrant with blues, yellows, and hints of green reflecting on the tranquil waters, suggesting a serene setting in a maritime environment. The plot of my painting is simple - a pier and old fishing boats moored next to it. But this simplicity conquers at first sight, brings peace from the "calm water" clarity of the image with an accentuated reflection of the wooden sides, and the invisible coastline makes you think about what is left outside the canvas. In my work, I put not only my talent and skill, but also the philosophical meaning, which is manifested in the details. Amazing reflections of canals in the small Spanish village of Albufera in the outskirts of Valencia. It was reflections that I focused on, since they are the key to the perception of the water surface, reflecting the boats, the building on the pier and the silvery sky. Once, when a painting, among others, was being prepared for an exhibition in an art gallery, it turned out to be upside down... And everyone saw what the philosophical meaning of the "reflection" eternally sung by the Japanese is - upside down, we look at the boats from under the water, which in itself uncommon, but unusual. Like a portal opening a mysterious underwater world. If you want - check it out, you'll like it. Of course, I do not urge to place the picture on the contrary, but you already know its inner potential.

oil on canvas 60x90 cm 2023 A large ship is docked at a harbor, with vibrant, abstract brushstrokes creating a dynamic depiction of the scene. The sky is clear and blue, complementing the bustling yet serene atmosphere of the port. I think that fate and unpredictability are synonymous words. Fate can be changeable not only in relation to people, but also to ships. From the archival photos that have recently become my companions, I highlighted the dim and image of a passenger steamer on the pier of blinding whiteness. The pronounced cheekbones of the stem undoubtedly attributed the vessel to the German traditions in the architecture of ships of the early last century. I expanded my search and found wonderful photos telling about the happy fate of the ship. MS MILWAUKEE is a German diesel passenger ship built by Blohm & Voss and launched in February 1929 for the Hamburg-America line. She was used on transatlantic routes from Hamburg to New York and cruised to the Canary Islands, Madeira and Spain on the same route. Not only was the ship with stunning lines and characteristics happy, but also thousands of passengers, whose happy faces were preserved in photographs of archives and private collections. But! Only until 1939! Afterwards there was a war!.. During World War II, the ship was used as a Kriegsmarine barracks ship. In 1945 the ship was handed over to the British government under the new name Empire Waveney and was used to transport troops. On 1 March 1946 she was badly damaged in a fire at Liverpool Dock. It was scrapped in Scotland in 1947. This was the journey of the ship, and now about its fate, which, as it turned out, is closely intertwined with the American city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after which in 1929 the cruise line Hamburg America decided to christen its newest liner MS Milwaukee. The company brought the Milwaukee city flag to Germany for its launching ceremony. Just as now, the war destroyed ties between multiple countries and their peoples, determining the future of humanity and the ship.

oil on canvas 70x60 cm 2023 A depiction of a ship with abstract lines and vibrant colors against a bluish background. The mix of geometric shapes and dynamic brush strokes creates a sense of movement and complexity. I painted an oil painting on canvas in the expressionist style, which depicts the stem of the famous sailing ship Amerigo Vespucci. The explosive manner of execution emphasizes the uniqueness of sailing ships and their ability to sail across oceans. It's not just a canvas; it is a testament to the enduring appeal of sailing ships and their limitless ability to capture the hearts and imaginations of all who encounter them. Let it find its place in your world and fill it with the beauty and freedom of the open sea. The Amerigo Vespucci is a tall ship of the Italian Navy (Marina Military) named after the explorer Amerigo Vespucci. Its home port is La Spezia, Italy, and it is in use as a school ship. In 1925, the Regia Marina ordered two school ships to a design by General Lieutenant Francesco Rotundi of the Italian Navy Engineering Corps, inspired by the style of large late 18th century 74-cannon ships of the line. Amerigo Vespucci was the second ship built in 1930, built in 1930 at the (formerly Royal) Naval Shipyard of Castellammare di Stabia (Naples). She was launched on 22 February 1931,[2] and put into service in July of that year. While sailing the Mediterranean Sea in 1962, the American aircraft carrier USS Independence flashed the Amerigo Vespucci with the light signal asking: "Who are you?" The full-rigged ship answered: "Training ship Amerigo Vespucci, Italian Navy." The Independence replied: "You are the most beautiful ship in the world."

The scene is depicted with expressive brushstrokes that give a sense of movement and rustic charm. A destroyed house can tell a lot of interesting things about its life history. Is not it?
