Description

This lovely floral Slavic shawl is made from pure cotton. It is a traditional vintage Pavlovo Posad shawl. The size is 61x61 inches (155X155 cm).

It is new without a tag. I guess it's from 1970-ies.

This shawl is a fine example of Slavic folk art, produced by the famous Pavlovo Posad Manufacture. They stopped producing cotton shawls many years ago and you can only buy a vintage one now, which is a pity - cotton shawls are beautiful and comfortable. They are indispensable in the summer when you want to hide your shoulders from sun, or to protect yourself from an evening chill. For those who do not wear wool this is the best way to enjoy the beauty of a Slavic shawl in a vegan option.

You can use it as a shawl, a throw, a lap blanket, you can hang it on a wall - so many uses! The flower garlands are very bright and elegant. You will treasure it for years to come.

The fabric drapes nicely. It is a high quality cotton, soft and fine. The fringe is also cotton; it is knit in a very elaborate way.

PLEASE NOTE: I cannot see any material issues, but the item is very vintage and there can be some very faint discolouration from storage. Overall in excellent vintage condition.

You can hand wash it with care or dry clean. These are actually quite sturdy, I just prefer to be on the safe side.

Please note that shipping from Uzbekistan to the US, Canada and Europe takes 3-8 weeks.

More from this vendor

I found this vintage silk scarf in a small shop selling vintage fabrics. Made in Uzbekistan from luxurious Uzbek mulberry silk. It is new old stock. Must be 40-50 years old, but still beautiful - possibly even more beautiful than before. It was made of locally produced silk, here in Uzbekistan, and was stored in someone's chest for all these years. It is made of lush crepe de chine, off white in color, with creamy overtones (yes, I do find something pearl-like in this softly glowing silk), a subdued sheen and long flowing fringe. It is smooth and cool to the touch. Please note that this is crepe de chine, and it is fine and lightweight albeit not flimsy. This is a statement piece, easy to drape and wear, with extra long lush fringe. This fringe behaves quite well and will not tangle much, as a rule. If it does, it is easy to untangle. The shawl is square, about 55 x 55 inches (140 x 140 cm), not counting the fringe. You could wear the scarf as it is, or you could paint it, upcycle it, teastain or turn into something completely different - you choose. It will still keep its noble nature, whatever the shape is. Due to the vintage nature of the item, there might be a slight discoloration here and there, not easily visible, or a snag in fabric. Does not take away from its beauty, in our view. Dry clean only.

This stunning Soviet shawl was made at the famous Pavlovo Posad Manufacture. For all I know, it might be 30-40 years old. The shawl is decorated with ornate floral borders - roses big and small, in bright pink, and small field flowers, and bright green leaves. The wool is fine and nice to the touch. These shawls are very easy to wear - with office clothes, evening dresses, jeans or fur coats - anywhere. If your office is cold, a shawl is a must to protect your back. It would also make a lovely chair throw or a baby blanket. The size is 58x58 inches (146X146 cm) not counting fringe. These shawls are part of our history. These were worn by everyone and present in every family, especially in rural areas. Their owners were very proud of them. A shawl was the best gift for a woman, and a very expensive gift, too - especially a large one. PLEASE NOTE: It is in great vintage condition; with bright colours and clear print, and I believe it has not been worn. No issues found but please remember that it is many years old and there can be a small discoloration or a pulled thread due to a long storage. Please note that shipping from Uzbekistan to most places takes 4-8 weeks. As for returning the item, you can return it for any reason within 30 days since receiving it, and we will issue a full refund minus shipping. If there is a major mistake in description, we will compensate shipping costs as well.

This Slavic shawl is very vintage and rare, as it was designed in 1970 and was produced for a limited period of time. The artist who designed it is called Victor Zubritsky (1946-2023) of Pavlovo Posad Manufacture. This shawl is called "My Girl" or "My Beloved", and if ever there was an aptly named shawl, it is this one. This beautiful piece exudes love and passion; the colors are vibrant and the flowers seem to be alive. Definitely, one of the most alluring shawls I have seen.  The size of the shawl is 58x58 inches (148X148 cm) not counting fringe.    PLEASE NOTE: It looks unworn and it is very bright and clean. We could not find any flaws on it. Since it is very vintage, it might have a tiny discoloration or a pinhole that went unnoticed. Please remember that these shawls are many years old.  Dry clean only.  Please note that shipping from Uzbekistan to most places takes 4-8 weeks. As for returning the item, you can return it for any reason within 30 days since receiving it, and we will issue a full refund minus shipping. If there is a major mistake in description, we will compensate shipping costs as well.

This is a stunning vintage silk dress made at a factory in Uzbekistan in Soviet times (we guess 1970s). It is made from smooth silk fabric with bright ikat pattern. It is a classic Uzbek dress. You can wear it as a dress or as a tunic, with leggings or pants. The last photo shows great Uzbek dancer Tamara Khanum wearing one of such dresses, with a jacket (taken by Max Penson, also great). The back of the fabric is red, so the white stripes have reddish overtones. This is a loose fit dress, which means it will have no issues with fitting (if you like relaxed fit). It's upper part is partially lined in the same silk fabric. This is a smaller sized dress which is rare. It will fit Extra Small through Medium, depending on how you like your clothes to fit. Please refer to measurements. My mannequin is Extra Small. These dresses are always worn in a relaxed way. The fabric has no give at all. The dress is hand hemmed which is normal for dresses made from khan atlas. Measurements (laid flat, not doubled): bust - 19.5 inches or 50 cm length from center of back of neck to hem - 35.5 inches or 91 cm length of sleeve - 9 inches or 23.5 cm width of sleeve at the opening - 7.5 inches or 20 cm width of hem - 28.5 inches or 73 cm Uzbek women still wear these dresses on special occasions, like weddings and birthdays. In daily life they tend to wear dresses that are cheaper and do not need to be dry cleaned. However, these dresses make great loungewear, if dry cleaning is not an issue. This silk was hand woven in Margilan, Ferghana Valley, in Soviet Union times. This heavy silk is smooth and cool to the touch. It is handwoven fabric, made in the ancient way on primitive looms. The pattern is not printed; instead, threads are dyed in sections according to complex calculations. The fabric is 100% natural silk as evidenced by the care tag. It is called khan atlas. Condition: New old stock, unworn, no hang tags. PLEASE NOTE that handwoven silk may have small slubs, uneven threads etc. (as a rule, it is totally clean and smooth, but occasionally you can see something). This is considered to be a normal attribute of its handmade nature, like inclusions in natural emeralds. PLEASE DRY CLEAN. Please note that shipping from Uzbekistan to most places takes 4-8 weeks. As for returning the item, you can return it for any reason within 30 days since receiving it, and we will issue a full refund minus shipping. If there is a major mistake in description, we will compensate shipping costs as well.

This is a lovely vintage silk dress produced at Tashkent sewing production enterprise (Uzbekistan) in Soviet times. It is made from lush and smooth silk fabric with ikat pattern. It is a classic Uzbek dress, modest and easy to wear. You can wear it as a dress or as a tunic, with leggings or pants. The back of the fabric is red, so it has reddish overtones. The upper back part is lined in cotton fabric. This is a loose fit dress, which means it will have no issues with fitting (if you like relaxed fit).
