The tradition of cross-stitching towels and table runners is one of the core Ukrainian traditions that is still preserved in the rural area of Ukraine. There is a special name for Ukrainian embroidered towels – ryshnyk. The fabric of the ryshnyk used to be made by women of the family, they also embroidered it with different patterns.
