This spectacular clock features exceptional Empire stylish decor and mythological character, high quality of cast and hand chasing and very beautiful yellow mercury gilding. The central figure depicts ancient Greek goddess Aletheia ( ἀ λήθεια ) holding the book "Verit é " (Fr. the Truth). The goddess is seated in an armchair made in the form of a war chariot, decorated with a bas-relief of a swan and patterns. Her clothes gracefully fall onto the globe below. Base of the clock is richly decorated with bas-reliefs depicting creativity; and along the edges, there are bas-reliefs of the goddess Nike. Well chased dial equipped with semispherical enamel cipher plates and is also covered with a curved faceted glass. AS well back of the movement also got faceted glass door. Along the perimeter  is also decorated with ribbons and wreaths with stars. Movement needs some service (oiling) as it stops in just few moments of run. Key, pendulum and bell are included. Made in first quarter of 19th century by “Vassy Jeune à Paris” as marked on the movement. Size of 50 cm high by 38 cm wide (app. 19.7 x 15 inches). Weight is 8.5 kg (!) Extremely rare. Comes from old estate of Swedish nobleman. Very Good. age and usage wear, such dings and dents. Please study good resolution images for cosmetic condition.
