The baby and the fish are made of red terracotta clay, covered with black glaze. The glaze did not color the figure but only emphasized the lines. Okame height 1.34 in, width 1.02 in. The Okame mask of the Kegen Theatre is one of the cultural symbols of Japan. A very charming piece - a very accurate copy of the handwriting of my creative workshop. It is made of white clay, which became beige during the process of roasting. Upon careful examination, it can be seen that the posterior part of the article( symbolizing the neck of the mask bearer) has come out significantly lighter. That makes it even clearer. Also some fragments (eyebrows, eyelashes, hair) are covered with black engobe, teeth-white, the lips are highlighted by a slight smear of red clay. Okame is the Japanese goddess of happiness and fun.
