SOEKS electronic nitrate meter


 Personal portable nitrate meter. It measures the relative level of nitrates in vegetables and fruit, and visually warns the owner of the dangerous norm.

Nitrate meter or nitrate tester is used to evaluate (analyse) quantity of nitrates in fresh vegetables and fruit at home. It shouldn’t be used for treated vegetables and fruit (dry, frozen, canned, etc.). The principle of the analysis is to measure conductivity of the high-frequency alternating current in the measured product. The nitrate tester is the 105 g device which is convenient to hold.

The maximum acceptable daily doze of nitrates for an adult is 325 mg (or 0,324 g).

Maximum accumulation of nitrates takes place in the period of fruit and vegetables growth (before the gravest). That is why green vegetables (vegetable marrows, eggplants), potatoes, early vegetables may contain more nitrates than ripe ones. Nitrates are distributed unevenly. The most of nitrates in cabbage are in cabbage stump, in cucumbers and radish – in the surface layers, in the carrot – in the center. In average when you wash and peel vegetables and potatoes about 10-15% of nitrates are lost. More nitrates disappear during thermal treatment, especially during boiling (from 40% (beet) to 70% (cabbage, carrot) or 80% (potatoes). Since nitrates are rather active compounds their composition decreases by 30-50% while storing vegetables during several months. It is possible to decrease amount of nitrates by soaking the product or adding to the mixture without nitrates.


 

The amount of nitrates is measured by pinning the product with probe which is in the bottom part of the device.

In the result of the measurement you’ll see the accurate amount of nitrates in milligrams per kg of the measured product. The results will be shown on display. You will also see recommendations regarding usage of the product indicated with green, yellow or red lights.

Nitrates measurement

The following actions should be taken to measure nitrates in vegetables, fruit or other products:

1) Pick up the product. It should be clean, without dirt on the surface. You should wash the product avoiding detergents. The product should be rotten, hit or bit by rodents. The product should be dry. It should look fresh. You can use pieces of products. However the piece should be fresh and cut not more than 15 minutes ago.

2) Measure the product with the device.

Order was in good shape when it came in. Included paper manual is in Russian but electronic version is in English and unit was programmed to English. Attachments were as ordered and were in good shape. It took just over 5 weeks from ordering to arrival, but given the significant challenges the country is in, this is realistic. Seller was responsive to questions. Had to pay extra shipping here given the current challengs.

The Seller was friendly and cooperative and my order eventually made it through. Shipping for the order leaving the Ukraine was substantially delayed, probably due to the war. Ordered 22 Apr; shipped Apr 26, processed April 29, finally processed by mail destination in Kiev May 27, finally received June 9. The order was as expected other than the add saying it would include an English manual and Practical Guide and that was not what arrived, and I was not notified of the change. Hence the 4 star rather than 5 star rating. The manual that was received is in Russian not English, and no practical guide was included. I suspect that the seller is doing his best under extremely challenging circumstances and shipping delays due to the postal service are outside his control.

Here are the approximate delivery times:

- USA: 1.5 - 2.5 weeks

- Canada: 2-3 weeks

- Europe: 1-2 weeks

- Australia: 2-3 weeks (sometimes longer, depending on Australian customs)

- The rest of the world: 2-3 weeks

Delivery method

We ship all the parcels from Ukraine (from our logistics centers in Kyiv and Chernivtsi) via international services (FedEx, UPS) in two stages. 

First a parcel is sent by express delivery service to Europe, and then, it is shipped by air mail to the United States, Canada or Europe. 

You can see the movement of the parcel by a tracking number only in the second stage - 4-6 days after sending your order from our center. We estimate the delivery time to 12-18 days.

Express delivery is available only on individual request. Please contact us if you need Express delivery before placing an order so we can update shipping options.

Customs duties and taxes

Customers are responsible for any fees, taxes and duties related to delivery and ordering products to their country of destination.

Packaging

Your order will arrive in a safe cardboard box, with due packaging and protection from damage.
