If you like me, you probably would like to have many leather handbags, in admiration of its texture, of it’s color, for a certain season or an event, or just for a special occasion. And once you do, what do you need to know to run maintenance of your bags smoothly?

What can happen to your leather purse?

Beautiful and sophisticated leather and suede briefcases, portfolios and purses.

Are you ready to find out what exactly you need to be doing? If you are, let’s talk about what you need to know to maintain and keep your handbag in good condition. At some point you will obtain the new high quality leather bag and you want it to be kept in original pretty look for long time, right? Of course if you keep the bag in the original dust bag all the time, it will keep longer it’s new look, but don’t you want to use it and still enjoy the high quality by taking it with you on various events and just in day-to-day errands? It’s a reality that as anything else leather handbags and genuine leather clutches have the tendency to wear down. Things happen, and what if you ended up with an ink stain on your beautifully textured leather bag or even silky surfaced briefcase. What if you got the water stain on your lovely suede purse? So what do you need to do to keep them highlighting your outfit and get you many complements wherever you would go?

Care solution for your leather purse!

The way to maintain your leather bag is to be proactive and take your handbag by your caring hands very seriously.

1. Take time to protect your handbag with a reputable protection cream. A conditioner applied on a regular basis will help to nourish the leather and keep the stitch areas from drying out

2. Regularly apply a quick wipe down. Take the rule of doing it at least once a week with a damp cloth. Put your cloth in the warm soapy water. Combine a little bit of mild liquid hands soap with warm water and apply it to the outside of your bag

3. To avoid the possibility of ruining the leather always do the wiping along the handbag grain

4. Every two to three month take your handbag, like you would do with your pet, to a specialist who would use professional cleaning products

5. For ink stains always take your leather briefcase to a professional cleaner. If that is invisible, at least try the special ink-removing product and follow with application of a condition to an area. Leave it to air dry.

6. We all like variety and sometimes you want to have a suede bag in your collection as well. Apply only specifically designed for suede cleaning agents to make the removing of a stain as effective as possible

7. If you ended up with a water stain on the suede soft surface, try to rub it off with a white eraser. Yes, no joke the one used to erase the pencil on the paper

8. Want to change the color or style and get to another handbag? Yes, you can do that, only ensure you put some paper inside the handbag to keep its shape in place

9. To guard against water damage, you should go with waterproofing spray on your leather bag

10. Stash your leather bag in its original dustbag and fill it with stuffing of butter paper, never use newspaper as it will smear to keep your leather bag shape

Handcrafted Leather Bags need your loving care!

Cool Tip!

Leather and even more so the suede has very absorbent, fibrous nature of the material. Use it in your favor and have a small bag of fragrant lavender sachet snitched inside your inner bag pocket. For the best results when buying the sachet get the ones made of a loose linen fabric. The leather will absorb the nice smell and every time you’ll open your handbag it will make you feel as if you are in the meadow full of blooming flowers.
