Russian Watches had been serving on the front lines since 1930 when Joseph Stalin ordered efficient time keeping thought the country. The Russian Watch Industry was born out of this order and has since grown to be one of the world leaders in quality timepieces.

ENGRAVED WATCHES AND AWARDS


Engraved Watches were considered among the highest awards given to war heroes of the Soviet Union . The Russian watches have been constructed from some of the finest materials including titanium and stainless steel, and the high quality materials and exceptional craftsmanship made the watches closer to military medals than just ways to keep time. An example of such an award was one that was presented to Nicolay Gregorievich Xolostyakov, a famous submarine captain and the Soviet Union Hero during World War II. N. G. Xolostyakov was presented his watch in 1965 in recognition of his service to his country.

N. G. Xolostyakov was battalion commander of a brigade of submarines in the Soviet Union’s Pacific Fleet. During the WWII he commanded the World Novorotsiyskoy Flotilla. Under his command his submarine crossed two oceans and nine seas. During the war his submarine took part in eight military campaigns, 13 attacks and sank four enemy ships. His missions were full of peril and more than 3,000 depth charges were dropped by enemy ships and planes trying to sink his ship.

For his valor and leadership in combat N. G. Xolostyakov received various awards by allied countries including:

· Commander of the Order of the British Empire (UK) (1944) [3]

· Order of the Partisan Star in gold (Yugoslavia) (1945)

· Order of the Star of Romania, 1 st degree (Romania) (1946)

· Order "For Military Merit" of the 1st degree (Bulgaria) (1945)

· Order of the Hungarian freedom silver degree (Hungary) (1946)
