In Chinese and Japanese everyday life the figurines of children, especially boys, have a large and pronounced symbolism. Netsuke Karako (a Chinese little boy) is the wish of a male heir who would occupy a high social position and thus will bring prosperity to the family. Karako is considered a benevolent symbol, bringing happiness, luck and well-being. In addition to this, the joyful boy is depicted with the sacred fish Tai, which on its tail brings happiness. The baby and the fish are made of red terracotta clay, covered with black glaze. The glaze did not color the figure but only emphasized the lines. The boy’s robe is covered with bright yellow-orange glaze. In front of you is a very beautiful original product. Nice texture not prickly but expressive needles, smiling face, black kind eyes and big ears. Hedgehog is a symbol of self-defense. In Feng shui  the Hedgehog is a symbol of security, openness, friendliness and joy. Prickles pierce the world of darkness and either defeats it or gives it a jolt. Ancient legends say that Hedgehog is wise enough, and even God listened to his advice! In China, such an animal is associated with kindness. Hedgehog brings joy and prosperity to the house. For me, above all, Hedgehog and Snail are a symbol of friendship and alliance between the two personalities. And what he can become for you is for you to decide. Hare (rabbit) height 1.46 in, length 3.23 in. This ceramic Hare has minimalistic body shape but well- detailed head,  minimum of black glossy ceramic food glaze that highlights only slightly sketched areas of wool. Okame height 1.34 in, width 1.02 in. The Okame mask of the Kegen Theatre is one of the cultural symbols of Japan. A very charming piece - a very accurate copy of the handwriting of my creative workshop. It is made of white clay, which became beige during the process of roasting. Upon careful examination, it can be seen that the posterior part of the article( symbolizing the neck of the mask bearer) has come out significantly lighter. That makes it even clearer. Also some fragments (eyebrows, eyelashes, hair) are covered with black engobe, teeth-white, the lips are highlighted by a slight smear of red clay. Okame is the Japanese goddess of happiness and fun. She is usually depicted as a small fat woman with a large pear-like head, burning eyes, a broad, curly face, plucked eyebrows, a small mouth and full cheeks. Okame is known in Japanese mythology as well as Ame no Uzume - «Heavenly Maiden of Courage». It was she who lured the goddess of the Sun, Amateras, out of the cave with her frantic dance and brought light back to the world. The popular image of Okame was very popular. It is not by chance that her other names are Ofuku (in Japanese - «happiness») and Otafuku («great happiness»). The word «okama» is literally translated as a «turtle»; this animal in ancient Japan was a symbol of long life and luck. It’s going to be a great gift to a man who’s interested in Oriental culture. Boy height 1.97 in, width 1.14 in. This is a figure of Chinese baby playing with his pet Hamster. The portrayal of boys has a very clear and powerful symbolism: it is the wish of a male heir who will occupy a high social position and thus will bring prosperity to his family. Karako (Chinese boy) is considered a benevolent symbol, bringing happiness, good fortune and well-being, protecting children from misfortune and disease. The Kid playing with the Hamster is personifies peace of mind, that everything is good. It is felt through the facial impressions of the characters and the composition. A monk with a monkey is a one-piece figurine. Its height 2.83 in, width 1.42 in, depth 1.89 in. A monk is associated with peace, enlightenment and patience. The monkey is dexterous and agile. According to my idea, the monk was meditating and a monkey sat on his shoulders. She liked to sit like that, and although the monk was indignant, over time he got used to it and they became friends. For me it is a symbol of patience and friendship. The figurine is made of clay, covered with engobe and food safe glaze. Not afraid of water, but I do not recommend washing in a dishwasher. Height of the dog 1.97 in, width (front view) 1.57 in. The dog has a minimalistic design. He seemed to have descended from Japanese prints. Despite the minimalistic features, he has a well-developed form. The dog is made of clay, but very much resembles a jade figurine. Dog as you know it is a friend of man. So it happened with this figure. This girl is a cat lover. She is gentle and charming.  I think everyone can put their own meaning into this ceramic figure. According to my idea, this is a figurine of a Chinese child on a wooden horse with a traditional Chinese pattern. I think it turned out very nice. Children love to ride horses, so I decided to make such an unusual miniature figure.
